New Format for Sunday Morning and a dream role for Wallace Chapman
Radio New Zealand has announced a significant change for the Sunday Morning programme when Wallace Chapman hosts his first show on Sunday 30th March on Radio New Zealand National.
The programme has been expanded to five hours running from 7am to midday with the first two hours focussed on news and
current affairs with an emphasis on politics, sport, and world events.
For Wallace Chapman the new Sunday Morning role is the culmination of a long held personal dream.
“It might sound clichéd, but this really is the culmination of a long process to get the Sunday show on Radio New
Zealand. I can recall getting off the air on my weekend show in Dunedin on Radio One back in 1996, thinking how much I
loved it, and thinking… gee imagine doing this one day on Sunday mornings on New Zealand’s public broadcaster .
Well, 18 years later, here I am! “
An experienced and multi-faceted broadcaster, Wallace Chapman has previously been a breakfast host at Auckland’s 95bFM
and KiwiFM and a presenter on talk station Radio Live.
He is the presenter of the former TVNZ7 pub politics show ‘Back Benches’, now on Prime, and is well-known as a public speaker and facilitator, moderating the highly regarded series Smart Talk at the Auckland Museum – a panel discussion broadcast on Radio New Zealand National.
The extended time for Sunday Morning on Radio New Zealand National means that Hymns on Sunday will now be broadcast on Radio New Zealand Concert at 7.30 am.
Sunday Morning on Radio New Zealand National has a live listening audience of more than 200,000 people.
