Volunteers Out In Force at Bruce Springsteen Concerts to Collect Donations for Auckland City Mission
• Auckland City Mission volunteers will be
collecting donations at both Bruce Springsteen gigs this
weekend
• Auckland City Mission is Bruce
Springsteen’s charity of choice
• All donations will
go to further the work of the Auckland City
Mission
Auckland City Mission volunteers will be out in force this weekend at both gigs of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band to collect donations for the City Mission before, during, and after each performance at Mount Smart stadium.
Ahead of Mr Springsteen’s first New Zealand tour in a decade, the legendary rocker announced that he had chosen the Auckland City Mission as his preferred charity for his Auckland shows.
Very generously, the singer-songwriter earlier made available four VIP double passes to the City Mission to auction online. The passes sold for a total of $2000, giving the lucky bidders access to premium seats and VIP entry to the E Street backstage lounge.
Mr Springsteen, who is renowned for his support of a range of charitable causes, including food banks, also granted permission to the Mission to have volunteers collecting donations at his two performances on 1 and 2 March.
“With increasing numbers of families and individuals in desperate need coming to the City Mission for help, we are extremely grateful and proud that Mr Springsteen has decided on the Mission as his charity of choice,” says Diane Robertson, Auckland City Missioner.
According to Ms Robertson, the proceeds from the online ticket auction and the donations collected on both performance nights will help the City Mission to continue supporting the rising number of Aucklanders in desperate need.
“We call on all fans at this weekend’s Bruce Springsteen performances to dig deep and give generously to the Auckland City Mission. Without the help of our generous supporters, the Mission simply will not be able to meet the needs of Aucklanders who have nowhere else to turn,” says Ms Robertson.
The City Mission will have an
information stand at each of the gigs, and all concertgoers
are invited to drop by and find out more about the City
Mission’s work. On Saturday, 1 March the stand will be
open from 3:30pm – 11pm, and on Sunday, 2 March, from 3pm
– 10:30pm.
