Top Kiwi Music Acts Set to Wow the Crowds as Festival Excitement Builds
Kiwi music group sensation, Sola Rosa, will take the stage as the headline act at The Festival of Food and Wine to be
held at Ti Papa Special Events Centre on 22 March.
Described as a group that has never sat “comfortably in one box”, Sola Rosa successfully mould hip-hop, reggae, jazz,
Latin, soul and funk to create their own unique genre of music. Joining the line up on the main stage will be one of New
Zealand’s leading contemporary jazz groups, Chris Mason – Battley Group and soul and funk legends, the Hipstamatics.
Festival organiser, Christine Crabb, says they were looking for musical talent that would complement the laid-back
atmosphere and culinary delights on offer from exhibitors at the festival.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to secure Sola Rosa, Chris Mason – Battley Group and the Hipstamatics who have all made a
name for themselves both in New Zealand and on the international music scene,” says Crabb. “Sola Rosa are known for
their unique style of music, Hipstamatics will be belting out their fantastic soul and funk sound while Chris Mason –
Battley Group is sure to impress the crowd with their smooth jazz.”
Nosh chef, Adam Dickson will host the Culinary Demonstrations Marquee at “The Village” accompanied by top New Zealand
chefs like Hayden Smith from Euro, Michael Newlands from Bracu and famous foodies like Julie Biuso. These chefs will
bring a selection of demonstrations to festivalgoers throughout the day from 10.30am to 6.30pm.
Along with the opportunity to sample specialities from over 80 exhibitors, cheese and wine lovers will also have the
chance to join the food and wine master classes running separately in the Wine & Cheese Appreciation Lounge from 10.30am until 6.30pm.
Newly appointed community partner, the Lions Club of Manurewa, will be supporting the festivities on the day by helping
out with parking and directions.
In exchange for parking at the event, festival attendees are invited to donate a gold coin to The Lions who are raising
funds for the “Fruit Trees in Schools” initiative.
Chris Ross, President of the Manurewa Charter of Lions says; “We’re thrilled to come on board as Community Partner of
the Festival of Food and Wine this year and hope to raise significant funds for the Fruit Trees in School initiative.
This project will see twelve fruit trees planted in each school across South Auckland with the hope that in three years
of planting these schools will be able to harvest and supply fresh fruit to their students.”

The Festival of Food and Wine is a family friendly event with kids under 12 receiving free admission with an
accompanying adult. General admission tickets are now available fromwww.iticket.co.nz for $42 and VIP admission for $75.
