The Great Auckland Pride Debate
The Great Auckland Pride Debate is back, bigger and brighter for Pride 2014.
After a sell-out event last year at Galatos the Pride Debate returns in 2014 and moves to the much larger venue of the
Auckland Museum for Tuesday 18th February.
Once again it is Team Nikki vs Team Jacinda as they debate the moot, "Gays do it Better!”
In 2014 Team Nikki will argue the affirmative.
Team Nikki consists of National MPs the Hon Nikki Kaye and the Hon Maurice Williamson, and SPY about town Ricardo
Simich.Team Jacinda consists of Labour MP Jacinda Ardern and comedians Urzila Carlson and Jeremy Elwood.
Maintaining some semblance of order will be adjudicator and broadcasting legend, Pam Corkery.
The judging panel consists of the fabulous Buckwheat and community stalwarts, Women's Book Shop owner Carole Beu and
Paul Heard of Urge Bar fame.
Hosting the event for the first time is the Auckland Museum and they couldn’t be happier, “Auckland Museum is here for
all the people of Auckland. We are delighted to be making our roof-top Event Centre available as the venue for The Great
Auckland Pride Debate as part of The Pride Festival in 2014. The festival is a celebration of Auckland’s diversity; in
response we are once again lighting up the Museum in the colours of the rainbow.” says Director Roy Clare.
