Broughton Delighted With Haier Pulse First Outing

Haier Pulse Head Coach Robyn Broughton was delighted to have two opportunities to try out her new 2014 line-up during
the pre-season games against the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic in New Plymouth this weekend.
“It’s been a great weekend and I’m delighted with the progress we’ve made with the different combinations on court,”
said Broughton.
“We’ve been lucky to have the opportunity of two games to see how the new shooting pair Donna and Irene work, as this is
a crucial area of play for us. You could see how the combination grew over the two games.
“Joline showed strong leadership through the middle which helped to feed the ball into the circle, and once again our
defending combinations were really outstanding."
This weekend was the first time the squad has been together in over six weeks and certainly the first opportunity that
English defender, Ama Agbeze, has spent with her new team. Agbeze managed an energetic 15 minutes on court in the
fourth quarter, having only flown into New Plymouth last night direct from the UK.
Each game was made up of six quarters of fifteen minutes each. The Haier Pulse defeated the Magic 89-79 in Saturday’s
game and went on to vastly improve their score-line by beating the Magic in today’s game, 90-73.
“The turn-out has been great here in New Plymouth and the girls were certainly encouraged by the enthusiastic support
from the crowd,” added Broughton.
