A strong, loving, lifelong relationship doesn’t happen by chance. It takes effort and dedication to keep the fun and
romance alive. This is what Steve and Suzanne Thom, who run the popular Marriage Course at Heretaunga Christian Centre in Upper Hutt
believe. “We often get so busy, our lives can be so hectic we struggle to invest the time and effort required to make
our marriages thrive. The Marriage Course provides a fun, relaxed way to do just this, to invest in the future of your
relationship” explained Suzanne.
Run over 7 weeks, the Marriage Course covers a range of topics in a non-threatening way. Each session starts with a
candlelit dinner for two, very much like going out for a meal at a restaurant together which is followed by a
presentation covering the evening’s topic. “There’s time to discuss the material that’s been presented but only together
as a couple - there is no group discussion on the Marriage Course. The only person you need to talk to is your partner
and this comes as a relief to many, especially the men!” joked Steve.
"We will be starting our 10th course at the end of February. Having run so many courses you do receive a lot of feedback
and it’s amazing how positive it’s been. Many couples who come on the course have great marriages and they want to
invest further in their relationship for the future. Others have specific areas that they want to work on. Some have
only been together a short time and want to lay strong foundations for their life together while others have been
together much longer. Whatever their situation, time and time again we hear how the course has made a real difference in
the lives of the couples who have come along”.
The next course starts Tuesday 26 February.
