Another southern punter turns $10 into six figures

On the first TAB Triple Trio, Milton man Len Glassford won over $300,000 on a $10 Easybet and his story spread around the country. The following week a man from Mosgiel, just up the road from Milton, walked into a TAB and asked for the same bet that Len Glassford took. Come Wellington Cup on Saturday, he was $100,000 richer.
This means that for the first two weeks Triple Trio has ever been held in New Zealand, the biggest winners have come from the Otago, and this Saturday’s TAB Triple Trio will be held at their local Wingatui Race Course.
TAB Executive General Manager Glenn Patrick said it was astonishing that two people who lived so close together had won six figures two weeks in a row and that with the Easybet anything could happen.
“Len’s win last week made a $10 TAB Triple Trio the hottest bet in town – and who knows, it could pay out big next week too.”
A further 16 Triple Trio Easybets picked up over $1,000 from the concession dividend. Twelve of these copied Len Glassford and took the $10 option.
The man from Mosgiel bought his Triple Trio Easybet bet at the Crofters Pub and Café in Mosgiel, which is likely to have a busy couple of days leading up to this Saturday’s $500,000 Triple Trio at Wingatui.
Despite the huge success of Easybets, last week’s results also continued to show that people can also pick winning horses to win on Triple Trio says Mr Patrick.
“One punter picked his own horses to win a concession dividend and a number people picked their own horse the week before.
“The launch of TAB Triple Trio has been a great success and we’re delighted to with the results – they show that you don’t have to be an expert better – anyone can win,” said Mr Patrick.
