Teen Vehicular Crash Statistics Too High, Theory Test Launches Website
(January 21, 2014) – In an effort to reduce the number of automobile accidents involving teen drivers, Theory Test.co.nz, a free website for New Zealand teens to prepare for the written portion of their theory test, recently announced the launch of its website.
Injuries related to automobile accidents are the leading cause of death in children, age 10-19. In fact, more than 260,000 teen deaths each year are caused by auto accidents, according to the World Health Organization.
Of those crashes, 32 percent involve a driver between the ages of 15 to 24. Most vehicle crashes are caused by inexperience: the driver loses control because he or she does not know the appropriate ways to avoid potentially hazardous conditions.
“In many cases, crashes involving teen drivers could have been avoided if only the driver had been more informed about driving regulations and best practices,” said Andrei Zakhareuski, founder and CEO of Elegant E-Learning, Inc. “The purpose of the written theory test is to ensure teen drivers know driving regulations and how to implement them.
“Unfortunately, as many as two out of four learning drivers fail their written knowledge test the first time,” Zakhareuski continued. “Based on information from teens preparing to take their theory test, the learning manuals are often seen as dry and boring – teens don’t feel prepared when they take the written test.”
TheoryTest.co.nz revolutionizes the way teens study for their written test. Our online platform allows teens to interact with the technologies they’ve grown up using – their mobile phones or computers – to study and prepare for their theory test.”
While TheoryTest.co.nz has just launched this week, Elegant E-Learning launched a similar site in the United States in 2011. To-date, over 4.5 million practice tests have been taken on the site, with 250,000 teen learners taking tests each “We are excited to offer practice theory tests to New Zealand teens,” Zakhareuski said. “We’ve seen tremendous growth with our US site, and we know the value it offers to learners. We are proud to play a role in helping New Zealand drivers feel more confident when they take their theory tests, and to help them be better prepared when they take to the About Theory Test
