Netball Magic Returns to Taranaki
Media Release
9 January 2014
Netball magic returns to Taranaki during the first weekend of February when the Haier Pulse hosts two pre-season games against the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic at New Plymouth’s TSB Stadium.
These two encounters will offer a unique preview of the teams before the start of the 2014 ANZ Championship on 1 March, and will also see the return of six members of the Haier Pulse squad fresh from their UK campaign in the ZEO International Tri-Series, which begins in London next Friday.
Silver Ferns Katrina Grant, Joline Henry, Camilla Lees, Te Huinga Reo Selby-Rickit and Irene van Dyk, along with England’s Ama Agbeze, will rejoin the rest of the Haier Pulse family for this first pre-season outing.
In addition to the two 6-quarter games, there will also be a number of opportunities for netball fans, players and coaches to meet with the Haier Pulse team and coaching staff as part of a packed weekend of netball activity.
Netball Taranaki General Manager Steve Roberts is delighted to be welcoming the teams back to New Plymouth: “We’re delighted to have the opportunity once again host a truly fantastic, fun weekend of netball and to give our netball community the chance to get their pulse racing not only once, but twice in the same weekend.
“We will also be providing an exciting programme of netball activity involving local junior players through to senior coaches and managers, and of course Haier Pulse fans. The schedule for the two days gives our fans a great opportunity to enjoy a full weekend of netball, with a coaching workshop, fun games for players, opportunities to meet the Haier Pulse team and, of course, 12 quarters of top level netball,” explained Roberts.
Netball Central Zone and Haier Pulse CEO Carolyn Young is looking forward to connecting with the Taranaki netball community at all levels. “We are bringing the Haier Pulse family to all the major cities within the Central Zone in 2014 and the weekend in New Plymouth is one we are particularly looking forward to. The team enjoyed a tremendous welcome when they played there last year and for this visit we have added a number of additional activities around the two games to ensure that the entire netball community can get involved.”
Tickets cost $17 for adults and $7 for children* (2-12 years) and cover general admission for both games, giving fans the chance to see the coaches try out new team combinations over the two days. Centre pass on Saturday is 4.20pm and Sunday at 10.30am.
*Children free if 2 years and under and sit on parent/guardian's lap (No ticket required). Above prices exclude booking fees.
