The Block NZ Homes Are Open to the Public This Weekend
TV3 is throwing open the doors of the most talked-about block in the country - The Block NZ Open Homes are this Saturday and Sunday (October 19 and 20), from 10am-2pm at the four properties located on the corner of Lake and Eversleigh Roads in Belmont (Auckland's North Shore).
Competing teams Alisa and Koan, Pete and Andy, Alice and Caleb, and Loz and Tom will be on site as their houses are inspected, and producers of The Block NZ will be filming the Open Homes which feature in the final episodes of the series.
TV3's Head of Factual Sue Woodfield says organisers have pulled out all the stops to make this year's Open Home events as successful as those of 2012, which were enjoyed by thousands of New Zealanders of all ages.
"The Open Homes are fantastic community events which allow fans to meet The Block NZ teams and see the four houses close up for themselves," she says.
"We've worked closely with Auckland Council, the local community, and other stakeholders to ensure this weekend's events are a great experience for all involved. I'd like to thank all parties on behalf of TV3 for their patience and goodwill, and enthusiasm for the project - without them the Open Homes wouldn't be possible."
TV3 recommends using public transport to travel to the Open Homes. This year, a good option is free buses, provided by TV3. The 813 bus will be running every 15 minutes between Takapuna and Devonport, free of charge. Walking and cycling are also good options and a cycle valet provided by Auckland Transport will be onsite. There is no parking available near the Open Homes.
An Auckland Council traffic management plan will be in place on this weekend, including a road closure on Eversleigh Road. Lake Road will remain open at all times.
The second series of The Block NZ has been a ratings hit for TV3, drawing even bigger audiences than in 2012. More than 2.6 million viewers have tuned into the series so far this year (5+ cume), with an average audience per episode of 452,200 viewers (5+), a 13.5% increase on the 2012 numbers.
In the key 25-54 year-old demographic, The Block NZ is currently the #1 show on television, with an average 25-54 audience of 252,900, 6.8% higher than in 2012.
