New Zealand Writers Celebrate Eleanor Catton’s Great Literary Success

New Zealand writers are thrilled by novelist Eleanor Catton’s winning of the 2013 Man Booker Prize.
"Making the Booker shortlist was a stellar achievement in itself,” says New Zealand Society of Authors president Kyle
Mewburn. “Winning is simply phenomenal. This is the World Cup of literature and one of our writers has won it. She
deserves a ticker-tape parade.
"The win will undoubtedly propel Eleanor into the lofty literary heavens.
But it's really just the tip of an enormously talented literary iceberg. The current new wave of internationally
acclaimed kiwi writers across all genres is something the entire country should be immensely proud of. Every writer in
the country will be raising a glass or two to toast her well-deserved success."
