It’s hard to believe that 12 months ago, Harley Streten aka FLUME had barely made a mark. The then 20-year old had just one single (‘Sleepless’) and one remix (Hermitude’s Hyperparadise) to his name. Then came the gold-selling ‘Holdin On’ and the crowd went wild. The debut self-titled album came out to rave reviews and spent 22 weeks in the NZ Top 40 album chart. Playing countless festivals across the globe, Flume debuted in New Zealand with an especially memorable Laneway Festival slot in January 2013. Having then followed up with his second - and recent - sojourn to New Zealand with a sold out national tour. His return to La De Da is already eagerly awaited.
Flume
Known for wobbly basslines, big breakdowns and edgy A Capellas that are cut, copied and pasted together, English electronica duo JACK BEATS promise to bring the noise to Martinborough in spectacular fashion.
Multi-platinum artists, party boys and all-round Bad-Role-Models, Party Bass aficionados BOMBS AWAY, are on high-rotation airplay around the world and have become synonymous with a loose party!
With hard-hitting beats, politically aware rhymes, deft lyricism and strong song concepts, DEAD PREZ emerged in 2000 as one of rap’s most politically strident outfits. Stic.man and M-1’s music is still at the forefront of world hip-hop and will be a NYE aural feast.
DJ YODA is one of Britain’s most admired, original club DJs and an AV pioneer constantly pushing the possibilities of audio-visual manipulation. Transforming clubbing as we know it, Yoda throws down styles as diverse as Hip-Hop, Funk, Baltimore Club, Drum n Bass and even Country music, all cut-up with an awe-inspiring selection of visual delights.
Fans of drum & bass can be assured that LOADSTAR have everything it takes to be one of the most exciting acts in dance music today. This duo fuses their individual styles, creating a pioneering sound that imbues club dance floors, iPods and huge festival arenas with incredible energy and impeccable musical precision.
NU:LOGIC is the collaborative partnership between Nu:Tone and Logistics. The two brothers, Dan and Matt Gresham, combine soul, atmosphere, tension and groove - together into one melting pot of sound. With seven individual albums between them that have made waves in the D scene and beyond, Nu:Logic take no prisoners.
2013 is the golden year for S.P.Y, aka Carlos Lima, the DJ and producer with a career firmly rooted in the underground Drum & Bass scene. After signing to heavyweight label Hospital Records in 2012, S.P.Y has moved from strength to strength bringing his trademark heavy, soulful sound to the masses.
SPECTRASOUL have a reputation among Drum & Bass heads second to none. The duo has released music on only the very finest, most respected labels in the scene. Beautifully deep and etched with groove, yet powerful enough to move any dancefloor, SpectraSoul’s stunning musical productions are what Drum & Bass today is all about.
Hailing from Rotorua, Whangarei and Auckland, SONS OF ZION finds the space between tender RnB love songs and sun-kissed roots reggae, focusing on succinct song structures, memorable hooks and strong melodies and harmonies.
Melbourne based Indie folk/rock four-piece FIVE MILE TOWN managed to sell out their own headline show at the Auckland Town Hall and have shared stages with everyone from Katchafire, Homebrew, Kimbra and The Black Seeds through to Mark Ronson, Tame Impala, Six60 and The Presets.
Auckland bass DJ MIKAEL WILLS rounds out our second announcement. Bringing with him the latest Club Electro, Glitch Hop and Top 40 songs as well as brand new remixes, bootlegs and original mixes all mashed up and remixed live.
