Unearth your family treasures - New Zealand’s leading valuation expert at the New Zealand Family History Fair this Weekend.
If you love watching the Antiques Roadshow, or have always wondered whether that family treasure could be worth a fortune then, head along to the New Zealand Family History Fair this weekend and find out!
James Parkinson, the leading valuation expert from ART+OBJECT will be at the Fair this Saturday and Sunday from 10am-2pm at the Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau. He will be giving on the spot valuations of items brought in. So get to the Fair to see if those family mementos left gathering dust could be worth a buck or two.
With over 20 years of valuation experience, James has uncovered some extraordinary items including a collection relating to Napoleon’s last years on the island of St. Helena. James will also have some fascinating items on display at the Fair including the first book written about New Zealand in 1807 and a carved Maori paddle by Tene Wairere, one of the most Maori important carvers of the late 19th century.
The Family History Fair is both a celebration of New Zealand's unique culture and heritage, as well as a chance for people to discover their own history. It boasts a line up of international speakers; headed by Dr. Jo Appleby from the University of Leicester who excavated the remains of Richard III last year. Head along and browse over 50 exhibition stands with records from Auckland Libraries, Auckland Museum, Te Papa, NZ Defence Force and National Army Museum to name a few.
The Family History Fair is on this Saturday and Sunday at the Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau. Entry is FREE thanks to the New Zealand Society of Genealogists and Ancestry.com.au.
