Ewen Gilmour to Bring Fun And Funds to Waikato Kids
Variety – The Children’s Charity is thrilled to be bringing the Variety Mini Bash to South Auckland, Port Waikato,
Pukekohe and the Awhitu Peninsula for the weekend of September 20 – 22, 2013.
Famous Westie comedian Ewen Gilmour will head the first team to enter September’s Variety Mini-Bash, which will travel
his local area to raise funds for kids in need, and distribute grants to local sick, disabled and disadvantaged kids
along the way.
Variety – The Children’s Charity runs ‘The Bash’, named for its early bush-bashing days, which this year will bring fun
and funds to kids from Port Waikato to Awhitu, and Bombay to Pukekohe.
The event will cover three days, with classic cars and fire engines piloted by themed teams from all over New Zealand
wending their way round schools and rural centres, delivering grants and equipment, and shaking buckets as they go.
“That’s the best bit about the Bash,” says Gilmour, “it’s locals giving to locals. Those who have, donate to those less
fortunate while having a bit of fun along the way.”
The Port Waikato resident is a regular Basher with his long-wheelbase GT Radial Tyres-sponsored Ford Falcon often
spotted among the equally eye-catching road train, which includes a Mini-powered mobile cupcake, a two-faced American
school bus with its brightly-arrayed crew, the McDonalds fire engine and many more.
Since Variety’s inception it’s already given over $13 million to fill the funding gaps Government and other
organisations don’t meet.
