Wilberforces - New Zealand Tour 2013
Auckland duo Wilberforces brave the elements from July with a redux of their 2012 Paradise Beach tour – this time armed with more vitriol and, perhaps as important, their 12” EP.
Having undertaken a small break since the release of the EP and the video for “Haunted”, the band undertake a four-centre tour, including a long awaited return to Christchurch – the first time since their 2011 Vipassana tour.
Much like their music at times taking the listener outside of their comfort zone, Auckland’s performance at Shared Space on Cross Street is scheduled to be (as clichéd as this sounds) more of a happening than your stock-standard performance in a bar – while the always incredible reception that Mighty Mighty, Darkroom and Queens have led the band to once again perform in those haunts.
Paradise Beach, released earlier this year, has already led to the band gaining rotation on Auckland radio station 95bFM with the singles “Paradise Beach” and more recently “Magdalene Brothers”, while across the country tracks such as “Fire in The Hills” and “When The Dolls Woke” have been staples on alternative radio outlets; each resonating interestingly enough with the atmospheres in each location… or maybe we’re just being romantic…
Paradise Beach is available in all good record stores, digitally through decent online outlets and through the MUZAI Records store.
