The Khandallah Art Group
The Khandallah Art Group is a group of dedicated artists who meet weekly for tuition and peer review. Most of the members were pupils of the Dutch artist Marian van der Velde, who ran a popular art class in Khandallah. When Marian returned to Europe, a number of keen students decided to keep going, and have now been meeting for two years, under the eye of English artist Holly Bazett. Holly has a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Painting from the University of Brighton.
Members of the group work in oils, pastels, and pencils, and show a diverse range of styles and subject matter. Some are enthusiastic amateurs, whilst others are selling in galleries and taking commissions. One member, John Archbold, is a graphic designer, teaches art at the Johnsonville Community Centre, and has exhibited at the NZ Art Show. Carol Theologo is also showing at this year’s NZ Art Show.
This is the first time the group has exhibited together, and we are looking forward to putting together a very interesting and accomplished selection of work.
