Feature CD
The Phoenix Foundation - Fandango
Fandango, The Phoenix Foundation's fifth album is huge: clocking in at 78 minutes of ambitious, expansive, and gloriously rich music. From the driving album opener Black Mould to the 18 minute closing epic Friendly Society, Fandango draws on the band's collective love of the rock music canon, dipping a toe into psychedelia here, a finger into Krautrock there. Described by co-frontman Samuel Flynn Scott as a 'Test Match' of an album this release shows The Phoenix Foundation proudly flaunting their lofty ambitions in an age of digital disposability.
Win it on Breakfast at 8:15 all this week with Aaron Hawkins.

Radia - show 421 - Taiwan Old-New Times, by Johnny Chang - Sunday 28th April - 10pm w./ Campbell & Sally
Taiwan Old-New Times by Johnny Chang
In the gentlest and least signposted of 'city symphonies', albeit one which transfigures the field recording toward the overheard musicality of the everyday, Berlin based composer Johnny Chang takes us on an extended soundwalk around the changed urbanscape of his Taiwan childhood. As Johnny says of the piece: "Field recordings captured in Taiwan, from immediate vicinity of childhood home in the city to the countryside".
