“Blues Man Believes his life is a Broadway Musical only viewed to be viewed by the Spirits, ‘The Great Hoax’s 3rd ep”

The Great Hoax return in 2013 with a brand new 7 track ep 'Dark Matter' an experimental new batch of songs, that sounds
like: 'Tom Waits and Captain Beefheart' s ‘Trout Mask Replica’ meeting Nine Inch Nails'- Nick Swanson 'The Great Hoax'.
Dark Matter is the most original batch of compositions possibly ever!, combining elements of Jazz, hip hop, trip hop,
rock, blues, noise, and mild country groaning.
'It’s a 'mini' concept album about a blues man going crazy!'.
The storyline goes like this:
‘A small town blues player ‘Hot Dog Gunner’ moves from his small town to the big city
In the hope of making an income from his music but ends up going insane with very little money, a dead end job, drug
addiction, broken relationships and a keen interest in the occult.
With not enough money, and an addiction to prescription pills, gunner find himself becoming increasingly isolated in his
tiny apartment and starts to read the teachings of Friedrich Nietzsche and Alistair Crowley in the hope of finding
meaning in his life which leads him into a strange philosophical world.
He then one day sleep deprived and high on his meds comes to the conclusion that his life is a giant Broadway musical
that doesn’t even star himself and he has in fact become a background character in his own life.
The show is only viewed by the spirits in other universes and everyone is in fact an actor. His scepticalness becomes
too much and a his drug addiction helps to blur his own reality.
‘Gunner’ is quickly identified as a potential threat to society from his appearance and behaviour and he is placed in
mental institution where he is beaten every night until he becomes sane {which obviously never happens}.
The only evidence he has is a diary he kept while having his episodes which he mails to ‘The Great Hoax’ a band he has
always been an admirer of to get his message out and eventually turn his diary into a Broadway musical starring him’.
