Targa Rotorua
This is the first of the Targa NZ Sanctioned Series events and this year it will take place in May. The format has also had a revamp and the racing will now get underway on Friday 10th May and finish on Sunday 12th May. Based from the Novotel Hotel in Rotorua it has become an iconic event that is a true test of both man and machinery. By bringing the event forward into May it also give us an extra hour of daylight and increases the likelihood of better weather than the more traditional wet June we have seen in recent years. This event not only caters for the full on race cars but the Targa Tour offers those who wish to experience the closed road environment from behind the wheel of their daily driver. For more information please call the Targa office on 09 2988322 or email info@targa.co.nz and we will more than happy to answer your questions. Pricing structures are available on our website www.targa.co.nz and we now cater for a wide range of cars from older Classic to the modern day Supercars and 4WD's. We look forward to hearing from you.
Targa NZ
I have just returned from the initial plotting run for this years course and it is looking great. Like Targa Rotorua, we have revised the format to better meet the market, so this year we will get underway on Thursday 31st October from Auckland. Heading to New Plymouth, then Palmerston North across to Havelock North and then finishing in Taupo. The prize giving will now be an evening function and the end of the day rather than breakfast the following day so those who are under time constraints will be able to head home should they need to be back at work the following day. The new format of four race days being Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday was design to be less intrusive to the working week not only for the competitors but also the large number of volunteer, approximately 1500, required to run the event. It is also less disruptive on the schools and more importantly the school buses, thus it will give us the opportunity to get the most out of each day. Total stage mileage is still very high and once the road closure have been approved we will give you all more information. In the mean time now is the time to make the commitment and get your entries in. The sooner you enter the better the pricing structure and as Targa NZ was formed from Classic Cars, we continue to offer preferential entry fees for these vehicles. Make the effort and get your mates together and be part of "The Ultimate Road Race".
Thats all for now.
Peter and the Targa Team.
