Stand up comedy comes to Newtown
Comedy Monthly returns for its first show in 2013 on February 28 at The Office Cafe and Bar in Newtown. With plenty of students back in town for the beginning of semester, the show is a good, cheap and fun night of entertainment for people with a restricted budget, in a fantastic room for comedy.
“We’re pretty pleased with how the shows went last year, we had some solid numbers of people showing up and the feedback that we got from audiences was positive, so we’re looking for the show to grow more this year,” says producer Ben Caldwell.
Part of that growth includes taking Comedy Monthly to other suburbs around the region.
“This is the only comedy gig that is held outside of the CBD on a regular basis and we see a market for comedy in places like the Hutt, Kapiti and the Eastern suburbs, so if we can get the show running in those areas over the next couple of months, it would be fantastic.”
The show is approximately an hour and a half long. Resident MC, Jerome Chandrahasen, hosts a line up which includes Ants Heath, Kieran Anderson, Tito and a special guest from Auckland, Itay Ben-Dom, all for just $10. Students who bring their ID will also receive a free pint of beer. Thursday nights also feature The Office’s $15 super jug deal on their Monteith’s range. All people who like the Comedy Monthly Facebook page go in the draw to win 2 double passes to the show, as well as a super jug of Monteith's.
Venue: The Office Bar and Cafe, 124 Riddiford St, Newtown
Date: Thursday Feb 28 at 7pm
