Ellerslie Show Garden to be Gifted to Wharenui Primary by Kapiti School
Circle Trust and Junior Chamber International (JCI) Christchurch are delighted to be supporting of the gifting of a show garden from the Ellerslie International Flower Show. Raumati South School from the Kapiti Coast won several awards in a sustainable garden show last year and are now entering into the Ellerslie show. Raumati South will Gift their show garden worth over $26,000 to Wharenui Primary School in Riccarton, Christchurch.
Both schools value diversity and community; community organisations Circle Trust and JCI Christchurch also share these values and are proud to be supporting the efforts of the Kapati School and encouraging Wharenui School to expand on the Garden installed there last year. In August 2012 Circle Trust and JCI Christchurch provided the people power and project management skills to install a garden and sow the seed of learning about growing our own food and caring for gardens at the diverse decile two school.
Circle Trust is a community group that empowers groups and people within communities to break down the barriers and work together. Circle Trust was a vision of Daniel Wright since 2008 after his life had hit the wall and he had to gradually use the bricks in the wall to build new foundations in his life. JCI Christchurch is a local chapter of an organisation that exists in over 100 countries with over 200,000 members aged 18-40. JCI exists to provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change by learning from community projects and developing leadership skills in many ways.
The “Gifted Garden” will be broken down and rebuilt by volunteers from Circle Trust, JCI Christchurch, local businesses and the community on the 10th and 11th March after the Ellerslie show. The gifting will be completed with a formal presentation from the Kapiti Coast Mayor Jenny Rowan around midday on the 11th.
We invite the community to join us in celebrating this gift from one community to another on the day. If your organisation is able to support this wonderful project in any way we would be most grateful to hear from you.
