"Ed Style" Video Goes Viral at Waikato Hospital
Move over Psy - it’s ED Style at Waikato Hospital.
ED Style at Waikato Hospital
Internet hit video Gangnam Style by south Korean rapper Psy has spawned a thousand parodies – but one of the best is Waikato Hospital’s own “ED Style”.
The video features Emergency Department doctors, nurses and support staff promoting messages about how to improve the flow of patients through the department.
Although it is aimed at other hospital staff, the health board has put the video on YouTube.
“Putting it on YouTube was the only way we could let all our staff access it easily, but it is so good we are happy to go public with it,” said hospital assistant group manager Kevin Harris.
The idea came from Kevin Harris who adapted the lyrics from the well-known 'Eton Style' parody.
"To reach busy staff, sometimes you need to think outside the square," he said. "It's a light hearted video but the serious message is that we need close cooperation between Emergency Department, specialty doctors, wards and support areas to reach the Ministry of Health 6 hour target for Emergency Department waiting times.”
"It was a lot of fun and they really entered into the spirit of it - and it's brought the team closer," Kevin Harris said. The video was mainly filmed in the staff members’ own time, by DHB staff.
