Mihirangi joins Eco-Music Celebration
This BIG weekend of the Voices of Sacred Earth Eco-Festival brings musical illumination and much more to Auckland on
8th-10th February 2013 at Kawai Purapura Retreat Centre in Albany.
Never before has New Zealand seen so many wisdom keepers, healers, and sacred musicians come together in one place, for
a powerful weekend of transformation and celebration.
There are inspirational music seminars, hands-on workshops and interactive performances, celebrating the many cultural
and spiritual expressions of music that have evolved on our planet.
From join-in Drumming sessions and Kirtan Music, to Sacred Voice Healing and Gammelan choir, to traditional Maori
instruments and waiata, attendees will sing, dance, learn and participate.
Headliners include Mihirangi, the queen of loops, Taonga Puoro master Dr. Richard Nunns, Sitar performer Prosad Freeman,
native instruments musician Sika, and the acclaimed ex-guitarist for The Animals, Antion Vikram Singh, showcasing five
decades of musical development.
Kirtan musician Jyoshna La Trobe, Indian bhajan group Geetanjali , Kapa haka groups, a Baha'i choir plus Sahaja Yoga and
Adidam groups will also delight and inspire attendees.
The weekend has plenty for all the family, from eco-markets, children’s activities, swimming pool, sauna, spa, a
traditional sweatlodge and plenty of delicious healthy food. Fresh vegetarian meals will be prepared daily, using
vegetables from Kawai Purapura's on-site organic gardens.
“Our gardener Terry has been growing organic vegetables for months in preparation for the festival,” explained special
projects coordinator, Dyana Wells.
“We see this as a vital time to come together and experience musical inspiration, past and present. We look to
experience and understand ancient wisdom and cultural knowledge so we can move positively and creatively into the
future,” she added.
