Best Tag Footballers coming to Auckland for inaugural World Cup of Tag Football 2012
The World Cup of Tag Football 2012 is counting down to seeing the best international Tag Footballers in Auckland this week at North Harbour Stadium.
Former NRL ref and International Tag Football Federation (ITFF) Chair Bill Harrigan says - he can’t wait.
“To see the growth of Tag Worldwide and in particular the last 10 years has been phenomenal. The 2012 World Cup sees 105 teams coming from as far as England, Ireland and Japan. It is truly an international event where we will see the best tag players in the world perform over 3 days. The skill athleticism and commitment we will see from these players will have you asking, how did they do that - I can’t wait” says Harrigan.
105 teams, approximately 2000 players in 16 grades from 15 nations will clash on 13 fields in the 3 day event.
It’s the first major event international event to promote the sport of Tag Football hosted by the International Tag Football Federation (ITFF) in association with New Zealand Tag Football Incorporated (NZTFI) and Oz Tag Australia.
The biggest clash will be Australia v New Zealand. But it’s the Pacific nations who might have the X Factor to upset the two Tag Football giants in some of the grades.
Niue and Samoa both have 9 teams with Tokelau, Fiji with two teams each.
Nations include Australia, Australia Indigenous, New Zealand, New Zealand Maori, Great Britain, Ireland, Lebanon, Malta, Japan, Cook Islands, Fiji, Niue, Samoa, Tokelau, Tonga .
Mayor of Auckland Len Brown will open the event on Wednesday on 5th December 2012 at North Harbour Stadium at 5:30pm but fun kicks off at 8am Thursday 6th December and ends with the finals on Saturday 8th December.

Day 1 – Thursday 6 December 2012 – 8am- Official start of games
Day 2 – Friday 7 December 2012 – Games continue
Day 3 Saturday 8 December 2012 – Finals Day
