State Harbour Swim Today
Today's iconic State Harbour Swim attracted a record crowd of over 1500 swimmers, and although Trent Grimsey and Cara Baker took elite line honors there were plenty of other winning stories. 70-year-old Tony Williams came over from the UK for this 2.9km swim. He and his Auckland-based daughter Helen Greenway were raising funds for pediatric diabetes. Tony's 5 year old grandson was diagnosed with this terrible condition when he was just two years old.
Rosslyn Skinner had travelled to Auckland for the swim from her home in Sydney. She was swimming in memory of her mother who recently passed away. Her mother was the first person to swim Auckland Harbour 80 years ago, along with her own brother.
