New Zealand Secondary Schools Touch, Championship Returns to Hamilton
2012 New Zealand Secondary School Touch Championship
7th - 9th December 2012
Waikato University Park, Hamilton
The NZSS returns to Hamilton on Friday 7th December for three days of scorching-hot Secondary Schools Touch. Future superstars of NZ sport will be out to showcase their skills and flair in an event that always features head-turning action and heart-stopping moments.
Our three Champions from 2011 will be back to defend their titles – Rotorua Boys overcame hometown heroes Hamilton Boys High School 6 touchdowns to 5 in the final of the Boys Grade last year while Macleans College finally achieved a NZSS Championship in the Mixed Grade. Hamilton Girls High defeated Mt Albert Grammar in the Girls Final and both teams will be back and are looking like contenders once again.
In the past the Secondary Schools National Touch Championship has featured the likes of Benji Marshall, Liana BarrettChase (both in 2001-02) and Mils Muliaina (1997) strutting their stuff on the field with the best young Touch players in the country. Future superstars of NZ sport will be on show again this year and capturing a glimpse of the raw talent on offer is a real highlight.
If you would like to follow the progress daily with draws and results, plus news of the day you can do so at www.touchnz.co.nz and follow the link on the home page. Should you wish to interview any of the participating schools it is best that you approach them directly, however we would really appreciate a copy of any article so we could post it on our website in recognition.
Throughout the tournament Touch NZ selectors will be watching all the players closely and announcing the selection of a Tournament Team in each grade. While these players will not be playing any representative tournaments this year it does signal very clearly who the up and coming players are for the future NZ representative teams.
