Hard charging Mosen fights to fourth
The walk-up crowd at Western Springs Speedway in Auckland was treated to a true driving exhibition on Sunday night as
hard charging midget racer Brad Mosen passed 14 cars in an action packed feature race.
More bad luck, this time in the form of a flat tyre while leading his second heat, saw the 25-year-old’s patience tested
as he was forced to advance through the last chance repechage event.
Starting from the rear of the field, the CRC Synergy Racing driver advanced quickly to the top four transfer positions,
before a dubious decision by the officials sent him to the back again with just three laps remaining and his feature
hopes looking slim.
To the delight of the crowd, however, he dashed through the field to finish third and secure a spot in the main event.
“I wasn’t thrilled about being sent to the rear of the field after having worked so hard to move up already, but
sometimes you just have to make the best of a bad situation and that’s what we did in that race,” said Mosen.
“Hopefully we’ve used up all of our bad luck now and we can enjoy a less stressful time of it from here on in.”
Mosen produced more of the same in the feature race, storming from 18th on the grid through the quality midget field to
eventually finish in fourth position, narrowly missing out on the podium.
“If you’d asked me at the start of the night, I wouldn’t have been happy with fourth place, but considering the tough
night we’ve had to go through, I think we’ve done really well,” he said.
“The whole CRC Synergy Racing team did a great job tonight so with a bit of good fortune, it shouldn’t be long before we
get back to winning races.”
