New Christmas extravaganza for Hutt Rec
Plans are well underway for an exciting new Christmas event in Lower Hutt for 2012.
Christmas in The Hutt, scheduled for Saturday 1 December at the Hutt Recreation Ground, will feature an evening of quality entertainment and conclude with a spectacular finale at 9.30pm.
The event will begin with a showcase of community talent from 5.30pm, with cultural performances, school and kindergarten groups, community choirs, and others, before heading in to the main event at 7.30pm.
Featuring carols, dance, singing, Santa, and maybe even some fireworks, Christmas in The Hutt is set to be the community event of the year.
Chair of Christmas in The Hutt Incorporated, Cr Lisa Bridson says “We are excited to bring such a fantastic new event to Lower Hutt. The team has worked hard, and the show is shaping up as one of the biggest and best Christmas events we’ve seen!”
Entry is free (although a donation to event charity Te Omanga Hospice is encouraged), gates open at 4pm, and a variety of food and drink will be available for purchase on site.
An audience of up to 20,000 is expected, so to minimise congestion attendees are encouraged to either walk or take public transport where possible. Pay parking will be available at Hutt Valley High School, and a wide number of parking options both on street and in carparks are available within walking distance of the venue.
Christmas in The Hutt is a drug and alcohol free event.
In case of inclement weather, a postponement date of Sunday 2 December will be in place.
