Tasty review pre LA screenings
Local film Fresh Meat has just scored a positive review from respected entertainment magazine Variety on the eve of its
first trade screenings at the American Film Market.
In her first major role, young actress Hanna Tevita as Rina Crane is singled out for her “comic timing and ability to
switch in an instant from virginal innocent to salivating sexual huntress marking her as a talent to watch”.
Also noted is more experienced actress Kate Elliott who “scores as the hard-boiled girlfriend”. Elliott, who is now
based in Los Angeles will attend the market screening there Thursday (LA time).
Further praise for the movie and its aesthetic is credited to director Danny Mulheron for “injecting plenty of visual
energy into the proceedings”. Variety also recognized the influence of Fresh Meat’s high production values stating that
“slick widescreen lensing, spot-on production design and colorful costuming including Gigi's eye-catching hot pink
shorts-and-tank-top ensemble combine effectively to create the atmosphere of a high-gloss soap opera gone berserk”.
This along with an “eclectic soundtrack ranging from jazzy 1960s spy movie sounds to fast-and-furious rock numbers add a
luster to a thoroughly professional technical package”.
Fresh Meat is currently showing in cinemas throughout New Zealand.
