New Zealand League
The first ever New Zealand Gaelic Football and Hurling League is commencing this year.
It involves Auckland, Hutt Valley/Wellington and Christchurch. The aim is to further develop the standard of Gaelic
football within the country and to encourage other counties within New Zealand to take part in the tournament.
Auckland GAA will be hosting the first part of the league at Fowld’s Park, Rocky Nook Avenue, Morningside, Auckland
1022. This is being held on 21st October 2012 in conjunction with the New Zealand Feis Weekend which is being held in
the Auckland Irish Society.
Round two will take place in Wellington on 19 Jan 2013 and this year’s competition will conclude in Christchurch on 2
March 2013 with the overall winners crowned New Zealand Champions 2012/13.
Auckland GAA will have both Ladies and Men’s Gaelic Football team’s competing in all rounds. This is a very exciting
time for Auckland GAA and for the future of GAA in New Zealand.
The event will consist of six Gaelic Football games with six teams (three men’s teams & three ladies’ teams) with a panel of twenty five players plus three coaching staff each taking part. We are expecting
large numbers of supporters to accompany them. Each team will have two games on the day.

There will also be a sevens hurling tournament held on the same day. Auckland GAA perceive the NZ League as an integral
part of our plans to grow both Gaelic Football and Hurling in New Zealand.
