Religious Exploration Group Promotes Compassion
How can we bring Compassion to a Troubled world?
Building on the "Charter for Compassion" promulgated by UK religious author Karen Armstrong, the annual Conference of the Sea of Faith Network will consider the challenges of implementing compassion in a world beset by multiple crises. Speakers will be drawn from many faith traditions: Buddhist, Christian, Jewish and Muslim as well as an Atheist spokesperson.
The Conference, which is open to non-members, will be held at St Patrick's College, Silverstream near Wellington, from October 1 to 3. It will be opened by the prize-winning author, Sir Lloyd Geering introducing a panel of speakers who will locate compassion at the heart of religious, ethical and spiritual traditions. Keynote speakers will be Dr Valerie Grant, Prof. Kevin Clements and Emeritus Prof. Ian Pool.
