World’s best arrive at Coronet Peak

World’s best arrive at Coronet Peak

We’ve been talking about it all year and finally they’re here. Coronet Peak welcomed the American Ski Racing Team at Rocky Gully yesterday (Thursday 5th August) for day one of their training here and it was smiles all round.

US Olympic Gold Medalists Lindsey Vonn and Bode Miller could be seen up close and personal at the Rocky Gully Race Arena yesterday and will be training at Coronet Peak over the coming weeks as part of their build up to the World Cup.

Hosting successful ski racers is nothing new to Coronet Peak’s Race & Events Manager, Richard Murphy, but this year it’s that bit more exciting.

“It was great to see the US team arrive yesterday and be able to personally congratulate the guys and girls on their success on the World Cup circuit and the Vancouver Winter Olympics,” says Mr Murphy, “But now, it’s down to business and we’ll be busy ensuring they have nothing but the best training facility available to them here at Coronet Peak.”

Coronet Peak has been the main Southern Hemisphere training centre for the US Alpine Ski Team for around 18 years and continues to be the number one training destination for many other alpine nations’ athletes and teams.

“Coronet Peak is favored by the athletes for its consistent snowmaking, ability to inject all training hills, quick turnaround for athletes on Rock Gully T Bar and the Coronet Express, its Rolling Terrain and reliable weather patterns.”
