After 4 months and 357 bands we have finally found our winner - Aucklander Ruby Frost!
She took out the title at the 42Unheard final event at Auckland's Tranmission Room on Friday 11th December where she
performed alongside 5 other bands that the public had voted down from 20.
Each band performed 2 songs in front of the panel of 8 judges including Universal Records’ A Manager, NZ On Air, MTV and 42BELOW representatives. Celebrity judges Gin Wigmore, Shelton Woolright from Blindspott
and Ash from Kidz in Space also contributed their musical input and the final decision was unanimous.
Ruby Frost walked away with a recording contract with Universal Music, funding from NZ On Air for a music video, a trip to play at
CMJ in New York next year (Oct 2010) and loads of media coverage.
Ruby says, “It was completely overwhelming hearing that I’d won and running onto stage! This is the opportunity of a
lifetime, and I’m going to work my hardest to use it well. A key focus now is releasing my first single, and writing new
material for a full release later next year. I can’t wait to get the ball rolling,” she adds.
