Five members of the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photographers (NZIPP) have taken multiple prizes in the prestigious Kodak Gold Awards—a competition honouring and promoting the importance and value of excellence in professional photography.
The winners were Nicola Inglis, who received the Gold Award for Wedding Album and the Silver Award for Wedding Print; Karyn Flett, who received the Gold Award for Wedding Print and the Silver Award for Portrait Print; Isaac de Reus, who received the Silver Award for Wedding Album and the Silver Award for Wedding Print; Amber de Reus, who received the Silver Award for Wedding print and the Silver Award for Portrait Print; and Helen Jones, who received the Silver Award for Wedding Album and the Gold Award for Portrait Print.
This is the second set of awards for Nicola Inglis and Karyn Flett, both winners at the recent Iris Awards in Wellington, where Karyn Flett received a Silver Award and two Bronze Awards, and Nicola Inglis, who is current NZIPP Waikato/BOP regional photographer of the year, received two Bronze Awards.
Karyn Flett said of her win, “After the whirlwind of the NZIPP Iris Awards, the Kodak Gold Awards snuck up on me and it was a bit of a rush to get anything entered, but I am very happy to say that this year I was lucky enough to get a gold and a silver!”
Helen Jones reports she was delighted that one of her charming clients Georgia Foster, who is featuring in her upcoming children's portraiture book, due out next month, won her a gold.
Nicola Inglis reported it was a nervous wait for the results to come in, “I paced up and down and checked the driveway for a courier van every time I heard an engine.” And when the envelope finally arrived, “I ripped it open and there it was: the corner ribbon for my album saying 'Gold Merit'.”
The Kodak company was founded in 1892 and today is the world’s largest supplier of photographic film and a leader in digital imaging technology and equipment.
The NZIPP was founded in 1938 and has a current membership of 350 professional photographers, covering the disciplines of wedding, portrait, and commercial photography.
The Iris Awards are an annual event organised by the NZIPP to celebrate the excellence of New Zealand’s professional photographers.
