That’s Topps
New Zealand’s most loved musical and comic duo, The Topp Twins will be performing at this year’s Royal New Zealand Show
in Christchurch.
Twin sisters with their own primetime TV series and movie, they are truly original entertainers and one of the few kiwi
acts which can undoubtedly be called a cultural institution.
Fresh from their ‘Topp Twins 100 Years Tour’ of New Zealand and a stint in Australia and the United States of America,
the sister act will set the More FM Main Stage alight with their comedic hilarity.
Jools and Lynda Topp recently returned home from the Toronto International Film Festival where they won the prestigious
Cadillac People’s Choice Audience Award for Best Doco for their film, The Topp Twins — Untouchable Girls.
The Topp Twins will be performing at 12.15pm on Thursday 12 and 12.15pm plus 2.45pm on Friday 13 November.
The More FM Main Stage will also hold performances by the New Zealand Army Band, one of the most diverse musical
entertainment establishments in New Zealand today. Essentially a traditional brass band, the Band has incorporated into
its ranks a complete rhythm section enabling the band to broaden their repertoire to perform modern music.
The New Zealand Army Band will be performing at 12.30pm and 2.30pm on Wednesday 11, 11.15am and 1.30pm on Thursday 12
and Friday 13 November.
To add to the live music line up, Dads Army will be performing in the Tui BaaBaa Bar. Dad's Army is made up of Matty
Lovell (bass and vocals), Sam Chambers-Watson (guitar and vocals) and Bryn Rossiter (drums). These boys know how to tear
it up and are notorious for their rawkus live performances. Their repertoire includes every anthem from Green Day, Foo
Fighters, Oasis, Weezer, RAGE and The Sex Pistols.
Tui will also be holding the inaugural TUI Cup 5000, 2.30pm on Friday 13 November. The Cup will consist of nine
horseless jockeys who will be issued with an orange Tui robe and a plastic cup filled with 330ml of Tui beer. They then
race for the finish line over 180 metres and 5 steeplechase obstacles. The first runner across the finish line with no
less than 200ml of beer remaining will win $5000.
The Royal New Zealand Show runs from 11-13 November at Canterbury Agricultural Park Christchurch. Attracting 120,000
people, over 7000 livestock and feature competition entries and close to 600 trade exhibitors, plus three full days of
entertainment, it is the premier agricultural and pastoral event in the country.
