Film Marketing Competition Showcases Kiwi Creativity
A five thousand dollar cash prize has encouraged people to come up with ingenious ways to promote the horror film [REC]2, being released on Friday November 13th.
The unusual competition was an initiative between distributor Vendetta Films and local film promoter Ant Timpson, in which nearly all of the film's marketing budget was to be given away as a cash prize.
The competition ends in a week and Timpson is hoping to see a late entry come in and give the other entrants a run for their money.
"I've been really impressed with the creativity on display with entries ranging from an angry christian demanding the banning of the film, to a viral mashup that fused Balloon Boy news audio and [REC] footage, to virus alert guerilla tactics, to an indie film hijacking their own promotion, to a bloody street campaign , to a short film within the [REC] Universe, to a zombie insurance policy on TradeMe, to Wikipedia entries, Facebook pages and many more including one disturbed submission from a Brothel owner offering [REC]2 Specials".
The unusual competition runs for one more week and is open to everyone. More information can be found at the website. Twitterers can alert people to their work by tagging tweets with #rec2nz.
