PABLOS AUCTION – WORLD FAMOUS IN WELLINGTON
All year round we live in this city of wonderfully white and pristine galleries, adorned with mighty and marvellous art. But only once a year can you attend the infamous Pablos auction, attended by the rich, the famous and the Art Loving people of Wellington.
This year, as always, the auction features art from notorious, glorious artists who have generously donated work from all over the country. Names like Dick Frizzell, Nigel Brown, Ans Westra, Michael Tuffery, Tom Sladden, Margaret Elliot, Gavin Chilcott, Wayne Youle, Basia Smolnicki, Ewan McDougall, Brian Carmody, Gail Gauldie, Robin Slow, Sir JonTrimmer, Jane Blackmore, Gavin Bradley, Simon Morse….. and many, many more, including, of course, the talented artists from Pablos Art Studio. One hundred art works just waiting to be discovered will be auctioned on Thursday 12th November at the Renouf Foyer in the Michael Fowler Centre, for Pablos 14th annual fundraising Art Auction.
Doors open at 5.30pm to pre-view the work, bid on the silent auction, eat, drink and enjoy live music from La Dolce Vita. The live auction is underway at 6.30pm. Tickets can be purchased for $20 from ROAR! gallery, 55 Abel Smith St, (above Real Groovy) and door-sales are available on the night.
And not to forget the reason why this awesome event happens … Pablos Art Studio is a creative space in Wellington which provides an art studio and gallery for people who have experienced mental illness. It builds bridges between its artists and the wider community by using creativity as a vehicle of expression, engagement and identity. The auction is your chance to experience this art and to support the activities of Pablos and the recovery of individuals who have been affected by mental illness.
