Artescape Tickets Now On Sale
Tickets are now on sale for the eagerly anticipated Artescape Event in October. This is the fifth year running for Artescape, the art exhibition and auction that enables both local and international artists to showcase their work to keen and avid buyers. All monies raised from this year’s event will go to the Eastern Southland Art Gallery’s Muka Project.
The event is spilt over two nights this year with an exclusive dinner party being held on the Friday night to launch Artescape 2009. The Craig Investment Partners’ Artescape Dinner will be a glamorous evening with all the finer things in life…art, food and wine. Jim Hopkins will be MCing the evening along with guest entertainer, Tama Waipara. All of the 120 art works will be on show and 12 distinguished pieces, from renowned New Zealand artists such as Grahame Sydney and Fane Flaws will be auctioned throughout the night.
Gayna Rodgers, one of Artescape’s founding members says the event enables people to mingle and enjoy the company of local art appreciative people. “The event is really about encouraging and supporting our local artists while also supporting the overall development of the arts in Eastern Southland. It’s a great opportunity to have a prestigious night out and know that all the proceeds are going back to the local art community”.
The Saturday night event is a fun and slick cocktail evening with a silent art auction running throughout the night alongside a live entertaining art auction. Delicious nibbles will be served throughout the evening and a cash bar will be operating. The artist list is very extensive and includes great local talent such as Pauline Bellemy, Jo Wilson and Christine O’Connor.
This year also includes the addition of the CHAIR-ME-UP competition. Anyone with a creative flair can create/design a chair to be a stand alone unique piece of furniture. Chairs will be judged on the Friday night with the winner receiving $1,000. The chairs will then be on display at the Saturday night cocktail event. Some of the chairs will be included in the auction.
Tickets are on sale from 1st September from the ASB Bank, Main Street, Gore or online at www.artescape.org.nz
The Craig Investments Partners’ Artescape Dinner tickets are $95 and include entry to Saturday night’s cocktail function. Saturday night’s cocktail function tickets are $15 for general admission.
