Radio1XX Produces Segment For Beatles Radio Show
Local Bay Of Plenty radio station Radio 1XX has produced a segment for The Beatles Basement with Archer – a worldwide syndicated Beatles radio show heard on over 100 radio stations in the USA and on a dozen stations around the world. The segment is presented by Radio 1XX afternoon host Mark Eagle and produced by Aaron Anderson and will be heard between on Radio 1XX between 7pm & 9pm this Saturday (1st August) and over the weekend on several radio stations overseas during the show which this weekend marks its 1st Anniversary. The show first went to air on Radio 1XX and its sister station Te Puke’s 92.9 Kiwi FM on Saturday 2nd August 2008 and has run every Saturday night at 7pm since then. Out of all the Beatles Basement stations that have the show, Radio 1XX is the first station that plays the show each weekend.
The whole programme is produced in the USA and 1XX’s producer Aaron Anderson thought that they might not have this New Zealand–produced Beatles–themed song which was a big hit in New Zealand for a local Kiwi pop star in the late 1960s and submitted it for the show which will be part of a new feature starting on this week’s show.
The Beatles Basement is hosted by a US radio host who goes simply by the name of Archer. He has previously hosted the first 6 years of a local version of a ‘Breakfast With The Beatles’ radio show in Denver & Boulder, Colorado, building up a huge world–wide following through the on–air broadcasts
and a simultaneous online audio stream. His trademark presentation is limited talk and maximum music, with clips of the Beatles themselves replacing host pontification. He has interviewed all four Beatles in the course of his radio career and has also written and produced internationally–broadcast documentaries on The Beatles, and individual ones on John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and other big music stars from the 1960s to the 1990s.
The Beatles Basement with Archer, is the first syndicated Beatles show designed specifically to appeal to the casual Beatles fan as well as the die-hard Beatle-freak. Driven by creative listener set ideas The Beatles Basement incorporates a massive collection of the original versions of songs as aired on radio in the 1960s and 1970s plus archival and exclusive short interview clips. New Zealand Beatles fans can request songs and send set ideas, etc through The Beatles Basement webpage on the Radio 1XX website – www.1xx.co.nz .
The Beatles Basement with Archer plays every Saturday night from 7pm on Radio 1XX – 90.5FM & 1242AM across the Eastern Bay Of Plenty and 93.0FM at Ohope Beach and on 1XX’s sister station –
92.9 Kiwi FM in Te Puke. The show can also be heard online through the Radio 1XX website –
www.1xx.co.nz – for all those Beatles fans outside the Bay Of Plenty region.
