$100,000 Win Warms Mount Maunganui Man’s Heart

Media Release                                                                     13 May 2009

$100,000 Instant Kiwi Win Warms Mount Maunganui Man’s Heart

A Mount Mangaunui man recently signed off work waiting for a heart operation got some heartfelt news this week after winning $100,000 on a Jumbo Crossword ticket.

The local man heard from his doctor last week that he will need open heart surgery and as a result will have to stop working for the rest of the year.

“I’ve been working in the same job for 36 years and in these economic times, I was a bit concerned about not being able to work and how we would pay the mortgage,” says the winner.

“I was in town on Monday at the social welfare office to inquire about claiming my sickness benefit and afterwards I went to Paper Power to buy some milk and thought I would get an Instant Kiwi ticket to cheer me up,” he says.

“I went home to scratch the ticket and couldn’t quite believe it when I saw I had won $100,000,” says the winner.

“I had been really down about the news about my health and this win has made me believe that there was someone watching over me bringing me some good luck right when I needed it,” he says.

“There was a once in a lifetime hail storm on Monday when I was buying my ticket and this is a once in a lifetime win that will really help me and my family,” says the winner.

One top prize of $100,000 remains on the $5 Jumbo Crossword Tiger ticket.
