Radio Style Comedy from technophilic goon, Nic Sando. A season of three new and live audio plays from TheSando.com premiering at The NZ Fringe Festival. Each one a vertiable cacophany of absurd wit and cheap sound effect gags. Premiereing at the Katipo café, the performances and the resulting podcasts are being offered under a Creative Commons (Creative Commons Attribution-Non-Commercial-Share Alike 3.0 New Zealand Licence), in an attempt to allow people to share things that they like without becoming criminals. People are encouraged to record their own copies at the event or download the official audio recordings for free from http://TheSando.com/
Febuary 19th brings Joust (written by Nic Sando), a period piece in which a young lord must entertain the Crown Prince or face dire consequences. Part blackadder, part crying in frustration over a spilt bowl of cereal. It asks the queston 'how much suffering will a man go through for the sake of honour?' Featuring voice actress Alice Phillips and Sando himself.
Education Day, (Feb 20th,) the Viceprincipal of Coast Community College starts a bloody reign of terror on very the last day of the school year. Written by and starring Alexander Rodgers and Sando.
The 21st brings Sando's final play The Coast, a dark and apocalyptic comedy in which a bizarre town is torn apart by the cruel and brutal murder of it's beloved dairy owner 'Barry The Guy Who Owns The Dairy.' A one man audio play from Sando with over a dozen characters, it may either break him or turn him into some sort of multiple voiced demigod.
Alice Phillips is a Victoria University of Wellington Graduate in Theatre and a humourist in her own right.
Alexander Rodgers has degrees in Economics, Chemistry and Maths, and thus has no right to be involved in a humorous play.
Nic Sando, formerly of the Royal Victorian Luncheon Society (last years The Kettle of Allen and Max), is a Wellington based funny person.
This is the first major event presented by TheSando.com. And we wish to thank The Fringe Fesitval and Creative New Zealand for the funding we have received for it.
The Creative Commons licences establish a fair middle way between the extremes of copyright control and the uncontrolled uses of intellectual property. It allows those creating intellectual property – including authors, artists, educators and scientists – to mark their work with the freedoms they want it to carry. For more information visit http://creativecommons.org.nz or use wikipedia. It's fairly awesome.
