NZI Sevens auction to help disadvantaged Kiwi kids
New Zealand’s disadvantaged children are to get a helping hand, courtesy of the KidsCan StandTall Charitable Trust, with the launch of a charity auction as part of the 2009 NZI Sevens tournament in Wellington.
KidsCan is the official Charity of the 2009 NZI Sevens Tournament in Wellington, and the charity auction on www.sella.co.nz gives fans the chance to bid on some exciting items, including a signed New Zealand Sevens Team jersey and breakfast with the New Zealand Sevens Team before they fly out to San Francisco for the next round of the IRB World Sevens Series.
Executive Director of KidsCan StandTall Julie Helson says: “We are proud to be partnering with the NZI Sevens Tournament in Wellington to make a difference in the lives of Kiwi kids. This support couldn’t come at a better time with school starting this week. There are 12,000 children on our waiting list that will go to school with empty lunch boxes filling their tummies from the school water fountain”.
KidsCan StandTall supports 25,000 financially disadvantaged children throughout New Zealand each year. 102 low decile schools currently depend on KidsCan StandTall’s support, with a further 115 now on the waiting list. KidsCan StandTall have a vision to ensure all Kiwi Kids have the basics we take for granted so they can get on with being kids and take full advantage of their education.
“It's great that all the goodwill and enthusiasm of the NZI Sevens can be used to benefit kids in need. We hope NZI Sevens fans will give generously to support this great cause” says NZI Sevens General Manager Steve Walters. Along with The Sevens Charity Auction, Sevens fans attending the NZI Sevens will also have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the Ranfurly Shield and for a gold coin donation to KidsCan StandTall can take a photo with the log o’ wood.
The NZI Sevens Charity Auction is now running on www.sella.co.nz with a range of items available and every dollar bid will help KidsCan help thousands of Kiwi kids in need and provide them with the basics so they can get the education they deserve.
