Win bonus on selected Australian race meetings in January
Punters have every reason to get excited as the New Zealand TAB prepares to unleash some New Year cheer with Win bonuses on selected Australian race meetings, starting 3 January.
The Win Bonus will see the New Zealand TAB aligning itself with Tabcorp in Australia to reduce the Win take-out rate on selected commingled Australian race meetings throughout January.
The Win take-out rate will be more than halved for these race meetings - from just over 14 per cent to just under 6 per cent, making dividends 10 per cent higher.
New Zealand Racing Board General Manager Racing & Wagering Bill Colgan said the New Zealand TAB was following Tabcorp's lead by reducing the Win take-out rate for selected Australian race meetings.
"The choice for us was to withdraw from commingling on those race meetings in Australia or accept a much lower Win take-out rate and continue commingling - we chose to continue commingling," he said.
The Win bonus race meetings start on Saturday 3 January and will run on selected race Australian meetings throughout January. They can be identified by spotting the words 'WIN BONUS' in brackets after the race meeting name. The bonus will only apply on Win bets. It does not affect other pools.
The following race meetings will feature Win bonuses in January:
Saturday 3 January Caulfield, Randwick, Eagle Farm, Cheltenham Park (Thoroughbreds), Moonee Valley (Harness), The Meadows (Greyhounds) Thursday 8 January Mornington (Thoroughbreds), Sandown Park (Greyhounds) Friday 9 January Moonee Valley (Thoroughbreds) Saturday 10 January Caulfield, Rosehill, Gold Coast, Cheltenham Park (Thoroughbreds), Moonee Valley (Harness), The Meadows (Greyhounds) Thursday 15 January Ballarat (Thoroughbreds), Sandown Park (Greyhounds) Friday 16 January Mornington (Thoroughbreds) Saturday 17 January Flemington, Rosehill, Eagle Farm, Morphetville, (Thoroughbreds), Bendigo (Harness), The Meadows (Greyhounds) Thursday 22 January Seymour (Thoroughbreds), Sandown Park (Greyhounds) Friday 23 January Moonee Valley (Thoroughbreds) Saturday 24 January Sandown, Randwick, Eagle Farm, Morphetville (Thoroughbreds), Shepparton (Harness), The Meadows (Greyhounds) Monday 26 January Caulfield (Thoroughbreds) Thursday 29 January Ballarat (Thoroughbreds), Sandown Park (Greyhounds) Friday 30 January Sandown Park (Thoroughbreds) Saturday 31 January Flemington, Rosehill Gardens, Doomben, Morphetville (Thoroughbreds), Ballarat (Harness), The Meadows (Greyhounds)
