Sponsors Step Up With Two-For-One Ticket Deal
Lower than expected advance ticket sales have prompted sponsors of Saturday night’s match between the LA Galaxy and the
Oceania All Stars to offer a two tickets-for-one deal for the Mt Smart Stadium game.
The deal, available on-line and from Ticketek outlets from 7pm on Thursday evening (December 4) has been welcomed by
Lance Vervoort, General Manager Parks for the Auckland Regional Council which has underwritten the match.
“It’s a fantastic gesture by our sponsor partners who want as many Aucklanders as possible to see David Beckham in what
will probably be his last appearance in New Zealand.
“While more than 14,000 people have already bought tickets and we anticipate a large walkup crowd on the night, we want
the best possible atmosphere at the ground for the stars we have playing and for the crowd. As well as David Beckham,
1998 World Cup winner and French International, Christian Karambeu, together with Dutch soccer legend Edgar Davids and
Beckham’s former Manchester United team-mate Mark Bosnich will also play.
“Our sponsor partners including Samsung, adidas, Nandos, and Telstra Clear have stepped up and given thousands of
additional people the chance to be at the match. As sponsors they want to achieve a capacity crowd, with as many people
as possible having the opportunity to enjoy what will be a great occasion.
“We’ll be giving 6000 school pupils at our school’s day tomorrow at Mt Smart, invitations to bring their mums and dads
to the big game on a two-for-one basis.
Mr Vervoort said match organisers were not pulling back on any of the pre-game entertainment including a celebrities
match, and associated events.
