New art on show at UCOL Wairarapa
UCOL Wairarapa’s end of year art exhibition opens this Friday.
The show, entitled Visual Expressions will show case work from year 1 and year 2 Diploma in Visual Arts students.
Each year the students are required to plan and conduct an exhibition of original works in mediums such as painting, printmaking, sculpture, lens media and video installation.
That includes curating the show, hanging the works, and promoting the exhibition.
Second year Art student Angela Gregory says “The variety and quality of art work on display is fantastic. It is amazing to walk through the galleries and see how far we have all progressed. The whole experience has been thoroughly enjoyable”.
Students from the Diploma in Computer Graphics programme have also contributed work to the show.
Visual Arts Coordinator Scott Reiri says it’s a great chance for the public to see work by local emerging artists on display and to perhaps get a bargain for Christmas.
The exhibition opens on Friday evening 21 December and will be open daily from 10am -3pm at the UCOL Arts Building, 333 Queen Street Masterton. The final exhibition day is Thursday 27 November.
