One tour these Christmas holidays is going to guarantee 100% high energy good times - The Rock'n'Roll Caravan Summer Tour.
Featuring the two liveliest New Zealand bands to ever plug in onstage, Supergroove and Elemeno P, the tour kicks off at Auckland's Powerstation on 19 December before hitting the highway.
"Over a couple of beers just after daylight saving, Che Fu and I had the idea of getting a caravan and touring the world this summer," says Elemeno P drummer, Scotty Pearson.
The Rock'n Roll Caravan itself has been purpose-built for touring by Pearson, an experienced master builder, and keen D-I-Y man, Che Fu.
"The caravan is a forty foot mid '60s Crusader that we bought from a guy in Otorohanga on TradeMe," says Pearson.
Custom elements in the new look Rock'n Roll caravan include an expanded fridge area and beer taps, mag wheels and a rear spoiler. All new suspension was a crucial part of the rebuild and Jonah Lomu consulted on the installation of a ridiculously loud stereo system.
"Joe Lonie's bringing his cricket set, Dave Gibson's got the cards, and between the two bands, we've got plenty of tunes to keep the party going," says Pearson.
"One of our crew guys, Big Tony, I think it was mentioned something about getting a warrent of fitness for the caravan, so one of us will look into that"
"Yeah" says Che "We are going to need a Previa with a tow bar too."
Promoter Brent Eccles was thrilled by the idea because there are caravan parks near all of the venues (with power).
"In these current times, I'm just loving the economy!" he said.
"So when we get to your town, the Caravan will be rockin'. you know the rest!"
