The NZ Comedy Trust presents
COMEDY CHRISTMAS GALA
A Sack full of Laughter is coming your way!
Audiences can leave work stress at the door and start getting in to the holiday spirit, by celebrating the end of year with some hilarious Christmas cheer!
Following on from the Festival's sell out Cadbury CrunchieR Comedy Gala the COMEDY CHRISTMAS GALA is your chance to catch a taste of some of the greatest comedians working Down Under. You might also get spotted having a laugh on national television, so dig out your Christmas best and get a group together for an end of year celebration that is guaranteed to have everyone smiling.
The COMEDY CHRISTMAS GALA is filmed live for TV, and plays for 2 nights only at SKYCITY Theatre before bursting into living rooms all over the country for a TV2 Christmas special.
The irrepressible Te Radar is the host of proceedings, he will wrangle together twelve outstanding comedians in a fast paced 2-hour showcase of side-splitting comedy. Te Radar has recently been seen gallivanting across our television screens on TVNZ's Homegrown and Off the Radar. He is a two-time Qantas Media Award winner, and owner of the greatest set of ginger sideburns this country has ever seen - he will definitely get the party started!
The COMEDY CHRISTMAS GALA line-up includes some of the hottest talent from NZ and from across the ditch. The hugely talented and equally hilarious Fiona O'Loughlin and Mickey D [Tom Gleeson is no longer in Comedy Christmas Gala] will be proudly flying the Australian flag while the renowned Ewen Gilmour (NZ) will be bringing his outrageous Westie humour to the stage.
2008 Billy T Winner Steve Wrigley (NZ) will demonstrate why he won the most coveted prize in NZ Comedy, while Ben Hurley will be returning home after a highly successful tour with iconic Irish Comedian Ed Byrne. The insatiable Brendhan Lovegrove (NZ) will show with his searing wit why comedians rate him as the best in the country. Simon McKinney's (NZ) vocal gymnastics are a guaranteed belly laugh, and you certainly will not forget Gish (NZ) with his puns, poncho and musical parody, and there are more great acts to be announced.
The COMEDY CHRISTMAS GALA is the third New Zealand comedy event to be televised this year; it follows in the success of the Cadbury Crunchie Comedy Gala and AotearoHA. Also on our television dial was The Millen Baird Show, 1000 Apologies and Roll the Dai - showing the demand for kiwi comedy on TV is definitely on the rise.
Comedy Gala events are hugely popular and always SELL OUT so get cracking and book early for the best night out this festive season.
