PRESS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sculpture At Auckland’s Botanic Gardens
Some of the country’s most exciting contemporary sculptors will showcase their work against the backdrop of the Auckland
Botanic Gardens, Manukau City, in November.
The Eye for Sculpture exhibition runs from November 7th - 16th as part of the Manukau Festival of Arts. The work of more
than 20 artists in various media and a range of scales will go on display, with smaller objects housed in the indoor
gallery.
Clevedon based sculptor James Wright is the instigator of the special 10 day event.
“The Botanic Gardens are a real treasure for this city. Their motto is ‘Where Ideas Grow’ and this really is an idea
which has grown here,” he said. “For me this event is all about the relationships built up with fellow artists over the
years. It’s about trusting in their commitment and the energy they will bring to the show.”
Artists which are confirmed to be taking part include Fred Graham, Jeff Thomson Russell Beck and David McCracken. A full
list of exhibitors is available on www.eyeforsculpture.co.nz
Entry to the exhibition is free. The art is for sale, and a percentage of the proceeds will be donated to the South
Auckland Hospice.
An opening night function will be held on Saturday 8th November 6pm-8pm. Tickets at $45.00 per person can be reserved
via the website.
