*World Card Making Day This Saturday*
Brighten someone’s day with a hand-made card
*Auckland**, Friday 3 October, 2008: – *World Card Making Day (WCMD) is held on the first Saturday of October (October
4^th this year) and to celebrate Stampin’Up! New Zealand is holding workshops nationwide encouraging Kiwis to brighten
someone’s day with a handmade card.
Stampin’Up! New Zealand Manager Emma Parkin-Wilson says demonstrators will be available to help share the art of card
making*. “It’s a great creative and social opportunity,” she says.
Parkin-Wilson says WCMD celebrates the creativity of handmade cards and the personal connection that they create when
given to others. “If you’ve never been a crafter or card maker before, this is a chance to get involved, learn a new
hobby and make new friends.
“Nothing can beat that feeling when you go to the mail box and shuffle through a stack of bills and junk mail to find
someone has taken the time to send you a personalized hand made card,” says Parkin-Wilson.
Now in its second year World Card Making Day, founded by the American /Paper Crafts /magazine, is bringing card makers
together at the busiest card-making season of the year. These steps were taken in hopes of uniting the card-making
community (hobbyists, retailers, manufacturers, and more) and celebrating the connection and creativity that is at the
heart of card making.
Specific locations of where World Card Making Day workshops will be held around New Zealand can be found on the Stampin’
