EXHIBICIÓN DE RECUERDOS
Roland Olmedo
Chilean born Rolando Olmedo is a multifaceted community arts worker who has principally been involved in teaching drama with community groups for the last 30 years. Over the years Rolando has also explored painting and produced two exhibitions in Palmerston North and two in Wellington.
In this exhibition entitled “A site in my memory”, Rolando uses a simple and direct style to depict memories and impressions of his life, friends and activities intertwined with the history of Chile.
The exhibition also includes a tribute to Salvador Allende, president of Chile, who died in the military coup of 1973. The occasion marks the 100th anniversary of Allende's birth and his struggles and personal sacrifices to defend democracy, social justice and human rights.
The opening of the exhibition on Tuesday 23 September at 7.00pm, will be supported with a performance by the Latin American folk music group 'Los Andes'.
Curator of the exhibition is Diana Joyce and friends.
